Riccardo Licata and the Master Mosaicists

Nuvole-e-Sole-2010-cm57x429 February marks the inauguration of an exhibition dedicated to the rhythmic mosaics of Riccardo Licata and the work of the master mosaicists of the 19th and 20th centuries. Curated by Giovanni Granzotto e Antonella Ranaldi, the exhibition creates a dialogue between traditional mosaic and contemporary art, by exhibiting the work of modern masters in a historical museum context. Among the artists included in the show are Riccardo Licata, Afro, Mirko Basaldella, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Giorgio Celiberti, Carlo Ciussi, Mario Deluigi, Piero Dorazio, Mimmo Paladino, Armando Pizzinato, Giuseppe Santomaso, Gino Severini, Emilio Vedova, and Giuseppe Zigaina, as well as contemporary mosaicists Henry-Noël Aubry, Giuliano Babini, Vittorio Basaglia, Franco Batacchi, Marco Bravura, CaCo3, Marco De Luca, Ennio Finzi, Giovanna Galli, Verdiano Marzi, Paolo Racagni. El Anatsui at the High Line

Nigerian master El Anatsui has installed a monumental  37 x 157 foot sculpture, Broken Bridge II, alongside New York’s High Line park in association with his third solo exhibition at the Shainman Gallery. Originally developed as part of the 2012 Paris Triennale, the tapestry of tin and mirror has been reconfigured for its unique placement alongside the High Line, drawing all eyes upward in this particular corner of the city.

Ti Desidero: I Long for You

With this exhibition, Musivum Gallery (Moscow) is pleased to introduce seven young artists whose work brings together materiality and concept, tradition and contemporary methodology. Some of the works presented in this exhibition have been created during a period of residency in Russia, while others have been composed abroad, but together they represent an attentive selection of young artists whose work privileges the use of mosaic, reinterpreted in the hands of a new generation.

Nane Zavagno Retrospective

Nane Zavagno: Nature and Forms, a retrospective exhibition of the artist’s work, opened September 16 at the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, Armando Pizzinato. Marco DeLuca Retrospective at MAR

The Museum of Art of the City of Ravenna (MAR) will host a retrospective exhibition of artist Marco DeLuca, curated by Claudio Spadoni. The exhibition will feature thirty-four works, considered the most significant among those created by DeLuca in the past thirty years of his artistic production. Together, they demonstrate the strength and innovation that define DeLuca’s approach to mosaic.
